Apex Nursing and Care Services Limited was founded up
in 1992 by our Chief Executive Karen Coleman. Since then we
have become the largest independently owned Nursing Agency
in the North West. With the support of a dedicated
professional management team and backed by highly trained
and enthusiastic staff, it was incorporated into a private
limited company in 1994. It has now grown into one of the
leading care providers in the region.
Apex’s core activity is the supply of temporary agency staff
to the public and private sectors, including both health and
social care service providers. We specialise in short and
long-term cover at emergency notice. In addition, and by
request, we provide complete teams of Qualified Nurses,
Support Workers, Healthcare Assistants and Homecarers for
prolonged periods or contracts.
Our main Head Office is in Didsbury, Manchester and from
here we operate a 24 hour Call Centre. This means we are
open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 365 days a year. We also
have Call Centres in Stoke, Prestwich, Mansfield and
Liverpool. We operate satellite branches in Crewe, Preston,
Bradford and Leeds for the purpose of interviewing staff.
Our out of hour’s service is covered by calls being diverted
to the Head Office Call Centre where staff maintain the
branch rotas.
Our policy is to meet and exceed the requirements of our
clients by listening carefully to their needs, by tailoring
our service to suit those requirements and by employing only
the most conscientious staff to maintain our insistence on
excellence. Our aim is to offer clients a real continuity of
service. We endeavour to recognise, promote and encourage
good practices throughout our company and support
initiatives and new ideas at all levels.
JOINING APEX
Our recruitment process supports both those applicants with
previous care experience and those who wish to start a
career in care. Our helpful Recruitment Teams assist
applicants in joining the agency from an in depth face to
face interview to the follow up action of chasing all the
necessary documentation. This includes checking the
applicant’s identification details, references from previous
employers, vaccinations and police checks from the Criminal
Records Bureau including Protection of Vulnerable Adults and
Protection of Children’s Act Lists. We provide mandatory
training to make sure staff can meet the needs of the
clients we offer to. All departments within Apex are there
to assist new staff.
Once all the necessary information has been gathered, staff
can then be signed over and we can offer work in a variety
of areas, depending on their experience and particular
needs.
CALL CENTRE OPEN 24/7 ALL YEAR ROUND
Within our call centers we offer staff the ability to
contact us 24/7, to supply their availability for work and
accept shifts. We in turn contact staff regularly to offer
work and check their availability. This process ensures
staff has regular contact. Staff can also visit anyone of
our branches to provide and obtain this information.
HOMECARE
Apex prides itself on providing care to clients in their own
homes. We make sure when assessing potential homecare
clients that care plans are individualised to meet their
particular needs, we promote a person centered approach and
this enable clients to meet their own potential in their own
homes. We are committed to ensuring the full participation
of clients, relatives and social services (where applicable)
in the care planning process.
We believe that every service user has a right to express
their opinions in a safe, open and therapeutic environment.
We continually audit our services to monitor and improve on
the care we deliver. Senior clinicians complete regular
unannounced audits to monitor standards and give specialist
advice on how to continually improve the service.
TRAINING
Having become a major nursing Agency provider, it was a
natural development for us to move into the training sphere.
To resource its own ‘in-house’ training needs, the company
has invested in its own Training and Development Centre in
1995.
As a result we run courses such as the Homecare Induction
(formally Basic Care) which is equivalent to NVQ Level 1 in
Care, Mandatory Moving & Handling/Basic Life Support, Health
and Safety and First Aid throughout our various branches.
Apex recognizes everyone’s fundamental right of access to
care, whatever their individual need or circumstance
including consideration of culture, religion, language and
diet. As a result, we have developed training and
recruitment initiatives to ensure that we provide all
sectors of the community with an appropriate informed and
skilful service. Working with local providers we support
existing staff in studying towards NVQ Level 2 in Care. We
design our courses to meet your particular needs and can
provide training that will enable the enhancement of skills
and assist staff in their career goals. For all staff that
is on Apex books’ training is free.
