Standards of care in care homes, hospitals and the community
have never been more under the spotlight. As the Government
has acknowledged, it is vitally important for carers to be
trained and motivated and one of the best ways to achieve
this is through an NVQ qualification.
HSC Academy, an NVQ Assessment Centre which opened in
February, specialises in training for care providers
throughout Herts, Beds and Bucks. Accredited by OCR, the
centre offers NVQs in Health and Social Care to Level 4
covering Adults or CYP (Children and Young People), and also
in Management.
These vocational qualifications are suitable for care
assistants and other staff employed by domiciliary care
companies, care homes and hospitals, amongst others.
Attaining an NVQ shows that an employee has reached a
competent standard in their job, recognising their skills
and rewarding their ability, enabling care establishments to
provide a better service to their clients.
All assessors at HSC Academy are carefully selected,
occupationally competent and trained to a high standard, and
are themselves currently working in the care industry.
Supporting students on a one-to-one basis, assessors are
able to pass on the benefit of their own experience while
guiding them through the qualification process.
There are no formal classes to attend as training is based
in the workplace, however HSC Academy also runs occasional
workshops to enhance the learning experience, and encourages
attendees to share information with each other.
Academy Manager Stephen Bennett believes that HSC Academy is
well-placed to offer high quality appropriate training as it
is closely affiliated to the care industry.
“We know the industry inside out so we are aware of the
pressures and challenges faced by managers and understand
how stressful it can be for employees,” he says. “Our fees
are competitive and we work closely with companies to offer
support allowing a smooth path to certification.
Future plans for the Academy include the provision of more
specialist care training in subjects such as moving and
handling, abuse, health and safety, and risk assessment.
Contact HSC Academy to find out how they can help your
employees to reach their full potential.
