National Care Association (NCA) makes its
Service User Audit Tool available to all care home
providers. |
National Care Association has published a service user audit
tool entitled “Putting Service Users First”. The manual is a
Quality Assurance Assessment System designed to take into
account the views of service users as required by Statutory
Instrument 2006 No. 1493.
This statutory Instrument requires care homes to take the
views of service users and their representatives into
account when deciding what services to offer and the manner
in which services should be provided.
NCA Chairman Nadra Ahmed OBE said today: “We have written
this manual in response to requests from members. It has
taken some time to develop because we wanted to be sure that
survey forms are relevant to service users rather than to
those of us involved in care and inspectors. We have tested
the system and amended it to make sure that it is easy to
operate.
We believe that there are three key areas to be assessed in
a quality audit of a care home:
· Management of the Home
· Health and Safety
· The Views of Service Users
This audit tool is designed to be part of an ongoing
assessment of quality rather than a yearly event. It fits
well with the AQAA recently launched by CSCI as it
identifies what service users think is going well and what
could be improved.”
The Service Use Audit Tool is available to members of NCA
for £75:00 and to non members for £100:00.
